Shannondale Church

The story goes that soon after starting the Thorntown Presbyterian Church (or maybe before - the note below suggests he began to do so in the late 1820's), the Rev. Claiborn Young began to also preach just west of Shannondale, a small town on the western border of Boone County. Two miles or so west of Shannondale stood a huge glacial rock which the Rev. Young employed as a pulpit upon which he would stand on and preach.

This was the start of a new Presbyterian Church.

The church still operates today as the Shannondale Bethel Church, right on the Boone / Mongomery County border.
