Thorntown Presbyterian Church

Thorntown was one of the first towns in the young Boone County, founded in 1830, the same year Boone County was created. That year, a Presbyterian preacher named Claiborne Young moved to the newly founded Thorntown and within a year, he had started the first Presbyterian church in Boone County, the Presbyterian Church of Thorntown. It held its first services in 1831 and was formally organized in 1833.
